Moringa oleifera: A Comprehensive review on its nutritional and medicinal properties

Moringa oleifera, is originate to be grown and cultivated in the tropical and subtropical regions, highly obtainable in India. It is commonly known as horseradish tree, which is recognized by their common or local names which are benzolive, drumstick tree, Kelor, Marango, Mlonge, Mulangay, Saijhan, and Sajna. Moringa can withstand both severe drought and mild frost conditions and hence widely cultivated across the world. With its high nutritive principles, every part of the tree is suitable for either nutritional or profitable purposes. The leaves of moringa are found to be rich in minerals, vitamins and other essential phytochemicals. Extracts from the leaves are used to treat malnutrition, augment breast milk in lactating others. It is used as prospective antioxidant, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, anti-diabetic and antimicrobial agent. M. oleifera seed is an ordinary coagulant broadly used in water treatment. The scientific attempt of the present review provides insights on the utilize of Moringa as a cure for diabetes and cancer and fortification of the Moringa in marketable products. This review explores the employment of Moringa across disciplines for its medicinal assessment and deals with cultivation, nutrition, commercial and well-known pharmacological properties of this “miracle tree”. Moringa oliefera is a plant that has been praised for its health benefits for thousands of years. It is very affluent in healthy antioxidants and bioactive plant compounds. Hence, the present review highlights some important features of the plant in terms of nutritional and medicinal properties.
